The Logies: Ten's Nominees Win Big
Published: 24 April 2017
2017's last TV Week Logie has been awarded, and as the curtain falls for another year on the glittering occasion, Network Ten’s nominees have much to celebrate.
Aussie TV’s star-studded celebration of small-screen accomplishments has drawn to a close. There was laughter – Dave Hughes drew a particularly raucous response for his pull-no-punches hosting/roasting, tears, and a mutual industry recognition of how strong this year’s nominees are.
Following on from last year’s successes, Ten’s nominees had an evening to be proud of. Have You Been Paying Attention? kicked things off in style by scooping Best Entertainment Program, the perfect precursor to its brand new season.
A radiant Jessica Marais won the hotly-contested Best Actress award for her irresistible work in The Wrong Girl.
Waleed Aly’s win as Best Presenter was his second in a row, and came complete with a typically humble speech about his part in the process. “There are times I sit in a production meeting and I honestly think any idiot could host the show. I am genuinely delighted tonight to be that idiot. So thank you very much.”
There was more good news to come for The Project, as the team took the stage to accept the statuette for Best News Panel or Current Affairs Program.
In another double, inimitable TV sensation Gogglebox again took the Best Factual Program award. And The Living Room’s winning streak continued, scoring a hat-trick with yet another win in the Best Lifestyle Program category.
The Wrong Girl’s Rob Collins adds the Graham Kennedy Award For Most Outstanding Newcomer to his mantelpiece. And joining the evening’s two-time winners club, Have You Been Paying Attention? also collected Most Outstanding Entertainment Program.
In true TV Week Logies style it was quite the occasion, and many congratulations to all its winners.
