Tim Kano attributes his passion for performing to his musician father and an encouraging drama and singing teacher, which resulted in his first role on stage in Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Born in New Zealand, Tim spent part of his teenage years in Tokyo with his father Fujio, mother Sue and sister Maya.
He completed high school in New Zealand and went on to study Media and Film. After studying Political Science in Tokyo, Tim worked for the New Zealand Parliament in between acting jobs.
During his studies, Tim caught the eye of modeling agents and started working locally and overseas, which lead onto various acting roles including New Zealand’s Emmy Award winning program Reservoir Hill.
Since moving to Melbourne, Tim has appeared in Winners & Losers, Berlin Syndrome and the acclaimed feature film Holding the Man. Tim joined the cast of Neighbours in July as Leo Tanaka, alongside his on-screen twin, David (Takaya Honda). Tim said: “I love the role of Leo, he is such a great, multifaceted character to play. Despite his superficial façade, he has a good heart and a great love for his brother”.
