Barry challenges designer James Tremble and Kyal and Kara to transform couple Carla and Matt's mish mash-style living room into something hip and flash
James, Kyal and Kara meet their toughest critic, Carla and Matt's rescue dog, Sir-Barks-A-Lot. If he doesn't like the bed they build him, it's game over!
James: Before and After
James decides to orient the room towards the large wall, with a grey sofa and two open shelving units hiding the TV. He goes for a retro theme, with the two orange armchairs and some lilies providing punches of colour. He uses the alcove to create a reading space with an armchair, side table and floor lamp
Shelving units around the TV
Carla and Matt love their large flat screen TV, but don't want it to dominate the room. James uses two shelving units either side of the TV - his choice of open-ended units keeps the room feeling spacious
A Comfy Grey Sofa
While the couch and rug tie together with a neutral grey, James gives them a splash of colour with a variety of textured and shaped cushions.
James and Dylan Hard at work
James and Dylan work together to build the most important piece: Sir-Barks-A-Lot's new bed
One Happy Pooch
Sir-Barks-A-Lot seems to love James' designer leather doggy bed, as well as a good pat

Kyal and Kara: Before and After
Kyal and Kara decide on a more minimalist approach. The TV is mounted on a swivel bracket on the small wall, keeping it out of focus when not in use, while a large artwork on the wall behind the sofa brings colour to the room
Kyal At Work
Kyal builds the custom window seat which also contains a pull-out dog bed for Sir-Barks-A-Lot
Kyal and kara decide to place a three-seater sofa along the wall, opposite two small armchairs. This orientates the room towards the courtyard and the sunlight.
Custom-Built Window Seat
The custom-built window seat is a spot where Carla and Matt can relax, and also contains the all-important dog bed which can be hidden inside when not in use, saving precious space
