Son sues mum for putting photos of him on Facebook

An Italian boy has taken his own mother to court.
In news that will send a chill down the spine of any Facebook-loving parent an Italian woman has been banned from posting images of her son on social media. If she does post a happy snap of the lad she is will cop a ten thousand euro fine.
Her son, who is sixteen and prime rebelling age, made a complaint in court about his mum posting photos of him on her Facebook without his consent.
A family court in Rome has ruled in favour of the teenager because of Italy’s copyright law where the subject of the photograph owns the copyright. Which made the mother in breach of copyright for posting the photos.
She could be fined ten thousand euros if she posts another photo and has also been ordered to take down and snaps, posts and videos that she’d previously posted.
This is a pretty strong escalation from an argument you know definitely started with the words ‘mummmmmmm!’.
Whether this ruling opens the doors to all relatives getting in trouble for posting photos of teenagers looking unhappy at Christmas lunch only time will tell.
