In a development that everybody could have predicted the flamethrowers that Elon Musk’s Boring Company started selling on Saturday have already been misused.

Twenty thousand of the flamethrowers, which retail at five hundred US dollars, and which for shipping regulation reasons have to be called Not-a-Flamethrower, have already been sold. The first one thousand of the fire breathing machines were distributed at The Boring Company HQ in LA on the weekend where long lines of people waited to arm themselves with the oversized lighters.

Now that those consumers have gotten the flamethrowers home they’ve already started misusing them. Instagram and YouTube has been alight with footage of people with their fresh ‘throwers doing things other than torching a marshmallow from a safe distance.

YouTube vlogger iJustine uploaded footage of how she’d accidentally burned a section of the artificial grass in her garden while making a super-heated cooking video.

One fellow lit up an oversized and dubious cigarette, while another sprayed the flames a little too close to his own feet. As more of these flamethrowers make it into the market expect more videos of people making poor choices around large flames.
