She’s the Grandmother facing an impossible choice, however it’s hard to feel sorry for her having to make a decision. Because after winning a jackpot lottery, she has to decide whether to take her $2 Million prize in property, or in gold.

On one hand, Sydney’s ballooning property market is [almost] worth its weight in gold, attracting buyers and investors from across the world, yet on the other, if the market tanks, then the ready and waiting bullion deposit could see you cash in on falling prices.

They’re the type of things Bolwarra Heights mother-of-seven Lynne Mitchell is stuck thinking about having scooped up the first prize of the RSL Art Union’s Prize Home Lottery.

The lucky winner toured the three-bedroom, two-bathroom property today in Camperdown, and now has 10 business days to decide on which prize to choose.

RSL Lotteries General Manager Tracey Bishop said the property had the potential to rake in more than $75 000 in rent annually.

“It’s a tough decision – but one that thousands of people would like the opportunity to face,” she said.

“Ms Mitchell’s ticket was one of more than two million and her lucky number came up at the winner’s draw on Wednesday.

Ms Bishop said Ms Mitchell bought a book of six tickets in the lottery because she wanted to show her support for veteran services, as both her grandfather’s fought in World War II.

The RSL Art Union Lottery ticket sales raise funds for veteran support programs and services.

Ms Bishop said the ticket sales raised funds for veteran support programs and services, as well as offered an enticing prize to a lucky few.

“A $5 ticket gives people the chance to own their home and that’s really appealing to the younger generation that sees property – particularly in the Sydney market – out of their reach.”
