One person has died and at least three others have been injured after a car ploughed through a group of pedestrians in the southern suburbs of Perth on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier the same day two people were stabbed at a McDonald’s in Canning Vale, in an incident police say is connected to the car collision.

Police were called to Ranford Road at about 3.15pm to break up a fight involving a ‘large group’ of young people at a liquor store.

Inspector Tony Hill said the fight spilled over into McDonalds, and the car ploughed into pedestrians about an hour later.

“There’s a number of incidents involving people fighting which culminated in a fairly serious incident at a fast food outlet on Randford Road and then another serious incident that occurred here behind me in Eucalyptus Boulevard in Canning Vale,” he said.

“The incident behind us involved a motor vehicle that has collided with a number of pedestrians… one of the pedestrians is now deceased, and one of the pedestrians also has serious leg injuries.”

Emergency services said they took five people to the Royal Perth and Fiona Stanley hospitals.
