Amanda catches up with Jamie Oliver at his Jamie’s Italian Restaurant in Sydney city to talk all things food, Italian and fresh
A Warm Welcome
Amanda goes in for a hug with the superstar chef
Jamie's Italian Restaurant
Jamie’s Italian was founded by Jamie and his Italian mentor, chef Gennaro Contaldo, in Oxford, 2008. Since then it has grown to more than 60 restaurants worldwide, with six new restaurants across Australia
Italian, Jamie-Style
Many of the dishes on the menu are inspired by Jamie’s visits to Italy, and the stories of Gennaro's upbringing on the Amalfi coast. Gennaro’s stories have added substance to what is now the essence of Jamie’s Italian: tradition combined with current, innovative ideas and a Jamie flare
Fresh Pasta Made Daily
Amanda and Jamie get to grips with some pasta, which is made fresh on-site, every day
A New Menu and Fresh Ingredients
Jamie has also introduced a new menu, featuring delicious Italian classics made with a Jamie twist. The menu is jam-packed with the best sustainable and locally sourced ingredients
Warm and Comfortable
Jamie’s Italian was designed to be accessible and affordable 'neighbourhood' restaurant where everyone is welcome and feels comfortable, no matter the time of day
Jamie's Foodie Upbringing
Growing up as the son of Essex publicans, it might seem that Jamie Oliver was always destined to work with food, though he doesn’t remember specifically wanting to be a chef as a child. He does, however, recall that he was always creating something, and his dad started giving him jobs in the kitchen before he'd even started school.
Inspired by His Parents
To this day Jamie feels that his parents' commitment to running their own business instilled in him the infectious enthusiasm, tenacity and can-do attitude evident in the huge array of business, media and philanthropic endeavors spearheaded by him and his team
