Played by Anna Bamford

Working as a pharmacist, Miranda was paddling along in a steady relationship with her childhood sweetheart and fiancé Adam Evans, until a holiday to New York without him opened up her world and she started to look beyond her closed, safe life in a far-distant rural Queensland, where she had set up house with Adam. Her change in outlook wasn’t shared by Adam, who had a chronic habit of taking ‘them’ for granted, organising life plans for both of them and a fixed idea about what was right and sensible. When she told him she was giving up pharmacy to follow her dream, he refused to support it... one fight led to another and she called off their engagement.

While being single after so many years in a relationship, Miranda’s ready for this new chapter. So now in the city, she’s ready to experience life and with only one relationship under her belt she has a lot to learn on the dating scene. Although she misses Adam, in many ways, Miranda feels as if she’s dodged a bullet with the demise of her relationship – after all, marriage can wait and kids can wait even longer… And it’s not because she doesn’t like kids, but, if truth be known, the death of her younger brother Jeremy some years ago caused such devastation to her family, that it made her pull back from the idea of kids and the pain loving them may cause…

Spirited, passionate and creative, Miranda now lives for her art and photography. She could happily spend a whole day capturing the glorious light over the beaches – then remember she’s got a deadline for paid work as a photographer’s assistant the following day and stay up until 5am to finish it. And then she’ll wake up at noon and do it all over again. Her life is chaotic and fluid – and while she might bemoan her lack of organisational skills, she knows she’s never going to change. Tom isn’t overly tidy around the flat either (apart from his fridge and workshop) – but the arrival of Miranda sees him having to be “the tidy one” in a haphazard way.

Miranda is perceptive and resourceful, with a sometimes wicked sense of humour and possesses that wonderful quality of being oblivious to just how gorgeous and fabulous she is. When she loves, she loves fiercely and with a loyalty few can match.

Working shifts in her local pharmacy, Miranda was paddling along in a steady relationship with her childhood sweetheart 'Evvo' (aka Adam Evans), until a holiday in New York without him opened up her world and she started to look beyond her closed, safe life in a far-distant rural Queensland, where she had set up house with Adam.

While being single after so many years in a relationship may be scary to some, Miranda’s ready for this new chapter. So now in the city, she’s ready to hit the dating scene and make up for lost time – but nothing serious, thanks! Although she misses Adam, in many ways, Miranda feels as if she’s dodged a bullet with the demise of her relationship – after all, marriage can wait and kids can wait even longer... And it’s not because she doesn’t like kids, but, if truth be known, the death of her younger brother Jeremy some years ago caused such devastation to her family, that it made her pull back from the idea of kids and the pain loving them may cause… Miranda may be flighty but when she loves, she loves fiercely and with a loyalty few can match.
