Woman critical after head-on crash with 14-year-old driver

A woman is in critical condition after her vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by a 14-year-old boy in Sydney’s west.

Five others were injured in the crash, which happened about 7.35pm last night on Dunheved Road at Werrington.

The 27-year-old Penrith woman was trapped in her ute for about an hour and was taken to Westmead hospital with serious leg injuries.

Her 16-year-old passenger is in a stable condition in hospital.

The 14-year-old driver of the other car, a Holden Commodore sedan, was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with serious abdominal injuries and fractures.

Two 16-year-old passengers were also taken to hospital, but escaped with minor injuries.

A third passenger, an 18-year-old, suffered leg injuries and was also taken to hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
